Tokyo subway stabbing: two injured, suspect silent NHK

Tokyo police say two people were injured when a man went on a stabbing spree at a subway station in central Tokyo on Wednesday.



The attack occurred just before 7 p.m. on a platform of Todaimae Station on the Tokyo Metro Namboku Line.



According to investigators, a man in his 20s was about to board a train when the attacker suddenly approached. A security camera in the train captured the suspect chasing the victim and slashing him multiple times. The victim sustained injuries to his head and other parts of his body.



A second victim, a man in his 30s who intervened to restrain the attacker, sustained injuries to his hand.



The suspect, identified as a 43-year-old man, was apprehended at the scene, but is reportedly refusing to answer investigators' questions.



Tokyo Metropolitan Police say they believe the suspect and victims were strangers, and are continuing to investigate the motive.
