Residents near the site of a missile crash in Poland say the incident has deepened their worries about fallout from Russia&#039;s invasion of Ukraine.
                
An NHK crew interviewed locals in Przewodow, eastern Poland. Police vehicles were parked about 200 meters from the crash site, with officers cordoning off the area.
                
Officials at a nearby elementary school said most of its approximately 80 students were frightened and didn&#039;t show up for classes the day after the crash.
                
The school&#039;s principal said the incident brought back memories of the early days of the invasion.
                
School officials said they would call in counselors for students who were psychologically traumatized.
                
A 58-year-old staffer at the school said she couldn&#039;t stop crying when she heard the husband of a co-worker was killed by the blast. She added that she could only visit the colleague&#039;s house to offer condolences.
                
In the capital Warsaw, a 21-year-old college student said she had been aware of the possibility of such incidents happening in Poland, since the country is very close to Ukraine. The student said the missile was not likely fired from Russia, because such an attack on a NATO member country would lead to world war.
                
A 37-year-old man said it&#039;s still unclear how the people of Poland are going to be affected by the tragedy. He added that it matters to all of them, not only because it happened on the Polish side of the border, but also in a NATO member country.
