US President Donald Trump says the United States will mediate peace talks between Russia and Ukraine in the coming days.
                
Trump told reporters at the White House on Thursday that high-level officials from Russia, Ukraine and the US will be at a meeting in Munich on Friday.
                
Trump was apparently referring to the Munich Security Conference that begins on Friday. But he gave no details about the ceasefire talks.
                
Trump also referred to the Munich meeting in his summit with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi later on Thursday.
                
He said top officials, not himself or Russian President Vladimir Putin, will take part in the Munich conference, as well as another meeting in Saudi Arabia next week.
                
Trump said that Ukraine will be part of the meetings. He added, &quot;We&#039;re going to see if we can end that war.&quot;
                
Trump announced on Wednesday that he had spoken with Putin by phone. He said they had agreed to start negotiations aimed at ending the war in Ukraine.
