Media reports 14 dead in Israeli strike near evacuation zone in southern Gaza NHK

Qatar-based satellite TV network Al Jazeera says 14 people have been killed in Israel's overnight bombardment targeting areas near an evacuation zone in southern Gaza.

Al Jazeera says that many of the victims of the Israeli strike outside the city of Khan Younis on Wednesday and Thursday were children.

The Israeli forces reportedly carried out the offensive near the evacuation zone, where they have instructed people to shelter, without warning.

The number of daily deaths in Gaza continues to exceed 100 as Israeli forces continue their air and ground assaults.

The Israeli military announced on Wednesday that it had dismantled an underground tunnel that Hamas had built below Al-Shifa Hospital -- one of the largest in Gaza.

In November, Israeli ground troops raided the hospital, insisting that Hamas had an underground base there.

Israel has alleged that the 250-meter long tunnel connected the group's key command posts and other facilities.

Hamas has denied the Israeli claim. No third party investigation has been conducted.
