Britain has a new leader.
Rishi Sunak has officially been appointed prime minister. He is pledging to restore public trust in politics.

Rishi Sunak went to Buckingham Palace on Tuesday to meet King Charles, who invited him to form the next government.
It is the first time the new king has appointed a leader.
Sunak becomes Britain's third prime minister in less than two months.

The 42-year-old is the country's youngest leader in 200 years. He is the first prime minister of Asian descent and also the first practicing Hindu.

Sunak is promising to rebuild the country's struggling economy.

He said, "Right now, our country is facing a profound economic crisis. The aftermath of Covid still lingers. Putin's war in Ukraine has destabilized energy markets and supply chains the world over."

Sunak said his government will focus on creating economic stability...as the UK deals with its highest level of inflation in decades.
He acknowledged what he called the mistakes of his predecessor, and said he will immediately start working to fix them.
