A security camera has been installed near a railway crossing known as a "sacred spot" for fans of the popular basketball manga comic "Slam Dunk" to prevent nuisance behavior by tourists. The crossing is located close to Kamakura-koko-mae Station on the Enoshima Electric Railway in the city of Kamakura, south of Tokyo. The site draws many tourists from Japan and abroad. But some people have stepped out onto the road to take photos or thrown trash, sparking concern of "overtourism." Kamakura City had already taken measures, such as deploying guards at the crossing. Upon setting up the security camera this month, city officials also put up a sign that reads "Security camera in operation" in four languages -- Japanese, English, Chinese and Korean. One senior official said they intend to implement measures to prevent possible trouble between local residents and tourists.
