Talks aimed at reaching a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip are set to begin Monday in Egypt, even as Israeli forces continue their attacks.
The indirect negotiations between Israel and the Islamic group Hamas were arranged after US President Donald Trump unveiled a 20-point plan to end the conflict.
Hamas said on Sunday its delegation, led by senior official Khalil al-Hayya, has arrived in Egypt, a mediating country. Israel said its own delegation will depart soon.
US news website Axios reported that US special envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff and Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner are expected to arrive in Egypt as early as Tuesday.
Hamas has indicated a willingness to release all hostages as part of Trump's plan. Negotiators are expected to discuss steps for the release and a partial withdrawal of Israeli troops.
Trump urged a swift outcome, writing on social media, "I am told that the first phase should be completed this week, and I am asking everyone to MOVE FAST."
Israeli forces have reportedly paused their operation to capture Gaza City, but strikes have continued across the enclave. Local health authorities said on Sunday that 65 people had died in the past 24 hours.
