Health officials in the Gaza Strip say an explosion has occurred at a UN-run school in the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza. They say 15 people have been killed and 70 others injured.

Officials also say Israeli missiles hit two ambulances, killing 15 people and wounding dozens more.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society says the attack occurred near the al-Shifa Hospital, one of the largest in Gaza.

Israeli forces admitted to the strike. They say Hamas was using an ambulance to transport fighters. Hamas says the claim is baseless.

The Israeli military has released new footage.

It says a search at a Hamas military base in Jabalia found classified information including maps and operation plans.

The number of fatalities in Gaza is said to have reached 9,257. At least 1,400 people have been killed in Israel.

Shirane Maiko, a member of international aid group Doctors Without Borders, was working at a clinic in Gaza City. She managed to evacuate to Egypt via the Rafah crossing on Wednesday. She recalled what happened when the clashes began on October 7.

Shirane says she saw missiles launched from the back of a building in front of the clinic, and it was totally different from what she had seen and experienced in Gaza before. She says ordinary life ended abruptly and she had no idea whether she would be alive the next day.

She also says she was deeply frustrated with her inability to do anything and had mixed feelings because local staff members were not allowed to cross the border.

Shirane added that the first victims of a conflict are civilians, including children, women and the elderly. She wants the indiscriminate attacks to stop immediately.

Calls for a ceasefire are growing around the world. A rally organized by prominent writers was held near the Israeli Embassy in Tokyo.

In Israel, the families of hostages are urging the government to keep up military pressure on Hamas to ensure their release.
