Seven more people have been confirmed dead from days of devastating floods and landslides in South Korea. The death toll from the disaster stands at 33. Rescue workers recovered seven bodies from an underground tunnel in the central city of Cheongju where more than 10 vehicles were swamped by flooding. Downpours have pounded wide areas from the country's west to east since Thursday, causing numerous floods and landslides. South Korean media report cumulative rainfalls over the past four days were nearly twice as much as the total of the annual rainy season in some areas. A government task force for disaster response says as of 11 a.m. Sunday, 10 people were missing. Altogether, 6,200 people were forced to evacuate. Total rainfall through Tuesday is expected to reach as high as 300 millimeters in some areas. Weather officials say overflowing rivers and landslides remain a threat.
