Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made an unannounced trip to Ukraine's capital on Saturday, pledging to offer additional military and humanitarian assistance to the country. Trudeau said Canada will stand with Ukraine as much as it takes, and pledged to offer new military aid worth 500 million Canadian dollars, or about 375 million US dollars. Along with the financial assistance, Trudeau said his country will provide precision-guided missiles to the Ukrainian forces. Trudeau also announced 10 million Canada dollars, or about 7.5 million US dollars, in humanitarian assistance in response to flooding from a breached dam. Trudeau said the dam collapse was a direct consequence of Russia's war. Meanwhile, the British government has announced that it will give 16 million pounds, or about 20 million dollars, in humanitarian aid to those affected by the dam flooding. The financial assistance will be channeled through international organizations, including the Red Cross and the United Nations. The British government will also send Ukraine boats, water filters and water pumps to areas affected by the floodwaters.
