Flights at Manila's international airport were suspended Sunday after a power outage. The Ninoy Aquino International Airport announced a hold on incoming and outgoing flights in a post on Twitter at around 2 p.m., local time. The announcement cited technical issues at the Air Navigation Facilities of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines. The airport operator said a power outage at the airport's air traffic management center has resulted in a loss of communication. The authority said it is working to resume flights as soon as possible. As of 5 p.m. Japan time, at least 16 flights had been canceled or returned because of the problem. Affected flights include those between Manila and Japan's Narita and Haneda airports, as well as some passing over or near the Philippines en route to or from other Southeast Asian countries. Airlines are asking passengers to check their websites for updates.
