Russia estimated to have at least 10 units of new missile: Ukraine official NHK

A senior Ukrainian defense ministry official estimates that Russia possesses at least 10 units of the new type of missile it launched on Thursday.

Russia, which is continuing its military aggression in Ukraine, fired a new type of intermediate-range ballistic missile, known as the Oreshnik. Moscow said it was in response to Ukraine's use of American- and British-made long-range missiles in its attacks on Russia.

The deputy chief of Ukraine's defense intelligence agency, Vadym Skibitsky, said on Friday that there will be at least ten of the missiles if they are for research and combat use.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on the same day that his country needs to begin serial production of the new weapon.

Meanwhile, Britain's public broadcaster, BBC, said on Friday that Russia is estimated to have supplied North Korea with more than one million barrels of oil since March, according to satellite imagery analysis by a research group based in the UK.

The broadcaster quoted UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy as saying the oil is payment for the weapons and troops Pyongyang has sent Moscow to fuel its war in Ukraine. BBC said the transfer violates UN sanctions, which ban countries from selling oil to North Korea except in small quantities.
