Another 17 hostages freed by Hamas, Israel says NHK

The Israeli military says another group of 17 hostages freed by Hamas has been handed over to the Red Cross. It says they are 14 Israelis and three foreigners.

The military made the announcement on Sunday.

Israel and Hamas agreed last week to pause their fighting for four days, starting on Friday. The deal commits Hamas to release captives in phases in exchange for the release of Palestinians from Israeli jails.

Hamas had released 26 Israelis and 15 foreign nationals by Saturday, while Israel allowed 78 Palestinians out of prisons.
