North Korea's state-run media has attached great importance to the result of the first qualifying women's soccer match for the Paris Olympic Games played between North Korea and Japan.

The Korean Central News Agency on Monday for the first time unveiled the results of the match played in Saudi Arabia on Saturday. The game ended in a goalless draw.

The agency also reported that the second match will be played in Japan on Wednesday.

The news was listed under the category of "important news" on the agency's website, a category second only to news regarding North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

Korea News Service in Tokyo, which covers the Korean Central News Agency for Japanese viewers, says it is rare for sports stories to be classified as "important news."

The result of the match was also reported on the third page of the ruling Workers' Party newspaper, Rodong Sinmun, suggesting that interest in the qualifying matches are high in the country.
