Nippon Professional Baseball announced in February that 14 people associated with seven teams had admitted gambling at online casinos. Table tennis player Niwa Koki allegedly gambled online. Papers were sent to prosecutors and he received a summary order to pay a fine of 100,000 yen, or about 670 dollars. Niwa won a medal in the men&#039;s team event in two consecutive Olympic Games.
