Russia has unleashed another round of deadly strikes in eastern and southern Ukraine. This comes after the Czech Republic said an international initiative had secured sufficient funding to purchase 300,000 artillery rounds to help Kyiv replenish its arsenal.
The governor of Ukraine's eastern region of Dnipropetrovsk said Russian shelling damaged a house, a power line and other structures, killing a 16-year-old boy and leaving another man hospitalized with injuries.
Russian attacks in the southern region of Kherson and the eastern region of Donetsk claimed the lives of three civilians, and destroyed residential blocks.
The strikes followed a social media post by Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala on Friday.
He wrote that a Czech-led initiative has "managed to raise enough money to buy the first batch of 300,000 artillery shells."
The multinational drive has been trying to supply Ukraine with jointly procured shells from non-European countries. Kyiv's frontline arsenal is reported to be running seriously short.
Fiala said the goal of the program is to deliver "much more" ammunition to Ukraine. He added that the framework is seeking more partners to continue supporting Ukraine "in its brave fight against the Russian aggressor."
