Top diplomats from Japan, the United States, Australia and India will meet on Friday under the Quad security framework.
The meeting will take place in India after Group of 20 foreign ministerial talks ended in New Delhi on Thursday.
The Quad foreign ministers will likely discuss, among other issues, Indo-Pacific situations amid China's growing hegemonic moves.
They are also expected to strongly oppose any attempts to change the status quo by force while Russia continues its invasion of Ukraine. They are also likely to confirm to promote efforts to maintain and strengthen international order based on the rule of law.
The top diplomats are also expected to share the importance of working with countries including those in the Global South to realize a free and open Indo-Pacific.
They are also likely to agree on plans to advance practical cooperation in infrastructure, maritime security and disaster relief.
Japanese Foreign Minister Hayashi Yoshimasa will join the Quad meeting although he was absent from the G20 talks to attend a Diet committee session.
