Russia&#039;s foreign ministry says it has indefinitely banned nine Japanese citizens, including Foreign Minister Iwaya Takeshi, from entering the country.
        
                    
                  
The ministry announced on Monday that the decision had been made as part of countermeasures to the Japanese government&#039;s sanctions over what Moscow calls the special military operation in Ukraine.
        
                    
                  
The list includes Japanese Ambassador to Ukraine Nakagome Masashi, the former Japanese ambassador to the country, Matsuda Kuninori, and senior officials at the Japan International Cooperation Agency. In the private sector, the presidents of engineering giant IHI and Isuzu Motors are included.
        
                    
                  
Russia had already imposed entry bans on a total of 460 Japanese individuals since the start of its invasion of Ukraine.
        
                    
                  
The list includes Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru and other lawmakers and business persons.
