Gun battles are reportedly continuing in Sudan between the Armed Forces and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces despite a newly agreed 72-hour ceasefire.
                
The warring sides announced that they agreed to a 72-hour ceasefire from Tuesday with mediation by the United States and other parties.
                
But Sudanese media say gunfire continued to rage on Wednesday in districts of the capital Khartoum.
                
A humanitarian crisis is deepening in the city.
                
Reports say getting access to clean water is becoming difficult there. Local authorities said on social media that water facilities have been damaged and shut down amid deteriorating security.
                
Reporters in Khartoum quote the Red Crescent as saying hospitals are running low on fuel and medical supplies, and that the situation has become catastrophic.
                
Heavy clashes were also reported in the state of West Darfur in the west through Wednesday morning.
                
The country&#039;s armed forces and the RSF are accusing each other of violating the ceasefire.
                
The military say RSF members are hiding in residential areas and using civilians as human shields.
                
The World Health Organization says more than 450 people have been killed in the conflict since April 15.
