Traffic paralyzed due to heavy snow on an expressway in central Japan was freed up Thursday morning, some 19 hours after the jam occurred. Central Nippon Expressway Company says stranded vehicles were cleared on the Meishin Expressway in Gifu Prefecture at 4 a.m. At one point, the accumulated snow left some 770 vehicles immobile on both directions of the expressway over a 5-kilometer stretch.
