Looking at the members of the Central Committee of China&#039;s Communist Party, an expert on Chinese politics has said he was shocked.
                
Li Hao of Kobe University said that he believes President Xi Jinping scored a complete victory as all of the supreme leadership group is expected to be close aides of Xi.
                
He added there is no doubt that Xi will secure a third term.  He noted that it is highly unusual with respect to the practice of the past several decades, but his power base is so solid that everyone will accept it.
                
Li also pointed out that Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who turns 69 this month, and 72-year-old Zhang Youxia, the top officer of the Chinese military, were also elected to the Central Committee despite an unwritten rule that top party officials retire at the age of 68.
                
He said that it is of great significance for the future of the Chinese politics that the two officials who are older than 68 retain the position in addition to Xi.
