BTS member Jin completes mandatory military service NHK

The oldest member of K-pop boy band BTS, Jin, has been discharged from South Korea's military, completing his 18 months of mandatory service.

The 31-year-old was seen leaving an army facility close to the military demarcation line between the two Koreas on Wednesday morning.

Jin became the first of BTS's seven members to finish his compulsory national service. The rest joined the military by December last year.
In South Korea, all eligible men are required to serve in the military for a certain period.

Jin saluted reporters before reuniting with five of his bandmates. Local media say the members applied for leave to greet him.

Almost no fans were seen at the site because the group's agency had advised them not to visit the scene in order to prevent overcrowding.

Jin is scheduled to hold a meet-and-greet event for fans in Seoul on Thursday. Fans across the world are looking forward to the BTS star's return to the music scene.
