Ticket prices soaring for MLB World Series between Dodgers and Yankees NHK

In Major League Baseball, ticket prices for the upcoming World Series are soaring ahead of the first Fall Classic matchup between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the New York Yankees in 43 years.

Tickets for the first game at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles on Friday have already sold out.

But on the MLB's official resale website, the cheapest tickets for top-deck bleacher seats were priced at nearly 1,200 dollars, as of Tuesday morning Japan time.

A seat behind the Dodgers' dugout was listed at around 25,900 dollars. On a different sales website, a seat behind the home plate had reached more than 58,000 dollars.

Both teams in this year's World Series have long histories and star-studded lineups.

The Dodgers, winners of the National League, have Japanese star Ohtani Shohei. He became the first player in MLB history to achieve 50-50 this year -- hitting 50 home runs and stealing 50 bases in a single season.

The Yankees have Aaron Judge, who won the American League home run title by hitting 58 during the regular season. The Yankees say Cy Young Award-winner Gerrit Cole will start Game One in the best-of-seven series.
