Japan&#039;s transportation safety officials are analyzing flight data and voice recorders recovered from the two aircraft that collided at Tokyo&#039;s Haneda Airport on January 2, to determine what caused the deadly accident.
                
The collision involved a Japan Coast Guard aircraft that was on the runway, and a Japan Airlines passenger jet that had just landed.
                
The Japan Transport Safety Board on Tuesday revealed in its first regular news conference since the accident that flight data recorders and voice recorders recovered from both aircraft sustained no major damage.
                
Referring to communications between air traffic control and the two planes before the accident, JTSB Chairperson Takeda Nobuo said they are a human factor and are very important. He said the officials are investigating the communications but that he can&#039;t provide any further details.
                
Takeda noted that the JAL plane that went up in flames is a new type aircraft that was built using carbon fiber composite materials in large part. He said in that respect the accident has drawn much international interest in terms of the fire-resistant capability of the plane.
                
Takeda said the board will be looking not only into the cause of the accident, but also how the fire started and spread.
