Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio has expressed relief that all Japanese nationals and family members who wished to leave Sudan have arrived in Japan safely.
                
Forty-eight evacuees arrived at Tokyo&#039;s Haneda airport on Saturday morning.
                
Kishida told reporters he welcomes the returnees from what he called the &quot;dangerous and volatile&quot; situation in the northeastern African country.
                
Describing the mission as &quot;difficult,&quot; he thanked the Self-Defense Forces and officials from the Japanese embassy and the Japan International Cooperation Agency, or JICA, for their contributions.
                
Kishida said he believes there are no Japanese remaining in Sudan who wish to leave the country.
                
He said he expects Japanese embassy staff at a temporary office in nearby Djibouti to do all they can to provide safety and necessary support to citizens.
                
The Foreign Ministry says 57 Japanese nationals and eight family members have fled Sudan since fighting escalated earlier this month.
