Over 80 percent of respondents to an opinion poll conducted by a research organization in Ukraine believe the country can only declare victory when it liberates all areas now controlled by Russia.
                
The Rating Group conducted the survey late last month. It covered 1,000 people aged 18 and over across Ukraine, except territories currently occupied by Russia and areas where mobile connections were unavailable.
                
The survey found that 85 percent of respondents believe Ukrainian victory means the liberation of all Russia-occupied territories. These include the southern region of Crimea and the eastern regions of Donetsk and Luhansk.
                
The figure was up 11 percentage points from March.
                
Only 8 percent of respondents supported signing peace agreements with Russia as a method of deterring aggression.
                
Rating&#039;s Deputy Director Liubomyr Mysiv spoke to NHK on Wednesday. In apparent reference to alleged atrocities by Russian forces near the capital Kyiv, and in the southern region of Kherson and other parts of the country, he said the crimes have changed the thinking of Ukrainians.
                
Mysiv said the majority of Ukrainians do not want peace with Russia. He noted that last month&#039;s recapture of the city of Kherson and the supply of weapons from Western nations have led Ukrainians to believe their country can win.
                
He said Ukrainians understand it is hard to live in winter without heating and electricity. But he said few have protested or felt negative about the situation.
                
Mysiv said 90 percent of Ukrainians want victory in the war.
