Malaysian PM visits Cambodia for summit NHK

Malaysia's prime minister has held bilateral talks with his Cambodian counterpart in Phnom Penh. The two confirmed they aim to boost cooperation on regional issues including the crisis in Myanmar.

It was Anwar Ibrahim's first visit to Cambodia since he took office in November.

In talks with Prime Minister Hun Sen, they touched on a range of issues including the South China Sea.

Later in a news conference, Anwar cited how Hun Sen had managed to secure peace in his country and that he could also contribute to the Myanmar conflict.

Hun Sen said he hoped to continue frequent exchanges between the two countries at all levels.

Following his one-day visit, Anwar will fly to China on Wednesday to attend the annual Boao Forum in Hainan, before visiting Beijing to meet with leaders.
