Japan business leaders, China officials agree on advanced technology cooperation NHK

Japanese business leaders visiting China have agreed with Chinese officials to enhance bilateral cooperation on the use of advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence.



The delegation from the Japan-China Economic Association held talks with senior officials of China's Industry and Information Technology Ministry in Beijing on Wednesday.



In the talks, a representative from the Chinese side expressed concern about international industrial cooperation, apparently with the United States in mind. The representative said there are moves to create barriers in trade and scientific technology and turn them into political issues. The representative called for cooperation between Japan and China.



In response, Shindo Kousei, chairman of the Japan-China Economic Association, said China is leading the world in the use in society of new energy sources, electric vehicles, autonomous driving and internet communication. He said he hopes that Japan-China cooperation using information and communication technology will be an opportunity to create new industries and economic activities.



Participants in the talks discussed ways to improve the efficiency of the manufacturing industry and resolve social issues through the use of artificial intelligence and data management.



The Japanese delegates are scheduled to visit Changsha in Hunan Province from Wednesday to Friday. They will meet with senior local government officials and inspect local companies.
