A long-established public bathhouse or "sento" in Tokyo has cleaned up the whole facility with the assistance of robot vacuum cleaners.
On Thursday, four vacuuming robots took part in the major housecleaning at the 75-year-old Sakura-yu bathhouse in Tokyo's Sumida Ward.
A company dealing in the products offered help to the sento which has been struggling with a chronic labor shortage.
The robot cleaners began to move around, vacuum up dust and wiped the floor with a wet pad cloth when the owner and employees of the facility brushed off dust.
After completing the cleanup, they filled a bath with "yuzu" citrus fruits, which gave regular clients a good warm soak.
The yuzu hot bath is a winter solstice tradition in Japan.
The owner, Shinbo Takuya, said that the robot vacuum cleaners helped to ease the workload on humans, and they worked very well to get rid of dust.
He said that he wants clients to soak in the bath, be relaxed and stay in good shape toward the year-end.
