Officials from Japan and Cambodia have agreed that they will continue to work together to help Ukraine remove landmines and unexploded munitions.
Japanese Foreign Minister Hayashi Yoshimasa and Cambodian Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn met in Tokyo on Tuesday.
The meeting came after the Japan International Cooperation Agency, or JICA, held training in Cambodia last week for officials of Ukraine's State Emergency Service on clearing landmines and unexploded munitions.
Prak Sokhonn, who doubles as deputy prime minister, expressed strong support for Japan's new national security strategy.
The ministers also reaffirmed that the two countries will cooperate in such fields as security and cyber security.
Hayashi told a joint news conference that the two nations have built a strong relationship of trust by working together for Cambodia's peace, reconstruction and development.
He said he also wants to advance cooperation with third countries in dealing with landmines and unexploded munitions.
