A running train turned into a professional wrestling ring on Sunday in Yamagata Prefecture, northeastern Japan. The annual train wrestling event began eight years ago, organized by locals who wanted to support the ailing Yamagata Railway. The event had been suspended for three years due to the coronavirus pandemic. About 80 wrestling fans rushed inside the train running on the Flower Nagai Line. They watched a total of 14 wrestlers fighting for some two hours. The wrestlers were kicking their opponents while hanging from the train's hand straps. They were also seen jumping out of the train as it stopped at a station, and grabbing their opponents by their necks. Fans shouted in glee and gave rounds of applause as the wrestlers enchanted them with their performance held right before their eyes. A man in his 40s from Tokyo, who has attended the event since it began, said he was thrilled to watch such powerful moves up close. He also said he discovered the charms of Yamagata through this event, adding he now frequents hot springs and eateries near the Flower Nagai line.
