The US government is considering imposing restrictions on so-called &quot;connected vehicles&quot; that use Chinese technology due to concerns over national security.

President Joe Biden said in a statement on Thursday that &quot;connected vehicles&quot; that use Chinese technology pose risks to US national security.
                
Biden said these vehicles &quot;could collect sensitive data about our citizens and our infrastructure and send this data back&quot; to China. He added that they could be remotely accessed or disabled.
                
The government plans to investigate the national security risks from &quot;connected vehicles&quot; that incorporate technology from China and other countries of concern, and consider regulations to address those risks.
                
Senior US officials indicated that the actions are effectively countermeasures as China has imposed restrictions on US electric vehicles.
