Japan's nationwide postal service says it will start using drones to deliver goods in the next fiscal year beginning in April. The decision comes after the rules on drone flights were relaxed. Japan Post unveiled a drone that it has been developing at an event in Tokyo. The vehicle is capable of carrying loads of up to five kilograms in weight and can fly about 35 kilometers. Japan Post says the drones will be able to make deliveries faster and cheaper. The Japanese government on Monday revised a law to allow for drone flights beyond the operator's line of sight over populated areas. But Japan Post says it plans to start introducing the vehicle in mountainous areas and on remote islands first, as it faces more severe worker shortages in those areas.
