A leading Taiwanese chipmaker says it expects its new factories to reach full recovery by Friday after a powerful earthquake jolted Taiwan on Wednesday.
                
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, or TSMC, said in a statement on Thursday night that the new factories include a plant in the southern city of Tainan. The plant mass-produces the most advanced 3-nanometer chips.
                
The world&#039;s largest contract chipmaker also said the overall equipment recovery rate of its plant facilities had exceeded 80 percent.
                
TSMC had said on Wednesday night after the quake that operations had been partially impacted by damage to a &quot;small number of tools&quot; at certain facilities.
                
Meanwhile, Taiwan&#039;s National Science and Technology Council said on Thursday that operations of plants at three science parks were returning to normal.
                
The public agency oversees the management of the parks that are home to plants of TSMC and other firms.
                
The council said all major factories at the park in Tainan had resumed normal operations. It added that most plants were restarting their equipment at the park in the northern city of Hsinchu and another in the central city of Taichung.
                
Analysts say Taiwanese authorities are seeking to dispel concerns about the quake&#039;s possible impact on chip supply chains as Taiwan is a production hub for the crucial component.
