Japan's All Nippon Airways is grounding several aircraft due to engine problems that will result in domestic and international flight cancellations between January and March next year. ANA expects about 40,000 people will need to reschedule their reservations. In September, US aerospace and defense company RTX said it is recalling aircraft engines manufactured by its subsidiary Pratt & Whitney for inspections. The inspections are expected to take between 250 and 300 days per engine. The engines are installed on Airbus A320neo and A321neo aircraft. ANA has 33 of them in total. ANA will cancel about 30 domestic flights per day during the three-month period. The cancellations will effect flights between Tokyo's Haneda and airports in Hokkaido, Osaka, Fukuoka, Okinawa and elsewhere. Some international flights between Haneda and Gimpo in South Korea, as well as Qingdao in China will also be cancelled. On Tuesday, ANA began contacting people who have booked tickets on the affected flights. It asking them to rebook on other ANA or affiliate airlines flights, or cancel their reservations.
