He will meet with Lula on Friday. They are expected to agree to strengthen cooperation in tackling global issues. Brazil holds the presidency of the Group of 20 this year.

The prime minister is also expected to announce a plan to provide financial aid to help prevent deforestation for agricultural purposes and restore degraded land to protect the Amazon region.

Kishida is seeking to deepen ties with Brazil, a leading country of emerging and developing nations, collectively known as the Global South.
