A: Hey there! Got any news? 🤔 B: Just a bit about South Korea, actually. 🇰🇵 A: Oh, really? What's up? 💭 B: So, their new foreign minister nominee, Cho Hyun, is all for chats with North Korea! 🤝🇰🇵🇰🇵 A: As in, the big cheese, Kim Jong Un? 🤔 B: Exactly! He said he'll work closely with the US and friends to make it happen. 🤝 A: That sounds tricky, but cool! What about relations with Japan? ❓ B: Well, Cho wants to boost ties with Japan, find new ways to collaborate, and sort out any issues quietly. 🇯🇵🤝 A: Wow, quite the diplomat, isn't he? 🤔 B: Yep! He's served in diplomatic roles before, including as their UN ambassador. Seems like a seasoned pro! 🙌 ---------------- South Korea's foreign minister nominee Cho Hyun has indicated that he supports dialogue between the United States and North Korea. Cho spoke to reporters in Seoul on Tuesday about the view that US President Donald Trump is thought to be considering meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. He said proficiently realizing dialogue between the US and the North and establishing peace on the Korean peninsula is a prioritized diplomatic and unification policy under the president's administration. He said he will cooperate with the United States and friendly countries and make efforts to ensure that there are no obstacles to promoting dialogue. On relations with Japan, Cho said he will greatly develop bilateral ties and search for ways to grow past their framework while resolving any problems through quiet diplomacy. Cho, who was nominated by South Korean President Lee Jae-Myung on Monday, has previously served in diplomatic posts including as the country's UN ambassador. His appointment is expected to become official after National Assembly hearings.
