South Korea&#039;s defense ministry says it will take part in an international fleet review in Japan next month for the first time in seven years.
                
The ministry decided to accept Japan&#039;s invitation to the review on Thursday. It says South Korea will send a logistic supporting ship.
                
The ministry said it considered with &quot;the utmost priority the security implications of our Navy&#039;s participation, given the grave security situation surrounding the Korean Peninsula, which was caused by the recent series of North Korea&#039;s provocations.&quot;
                
The review is scheduled for November 6 in Sagami Bay, off Kanagawa Prefecture, southwest of Tokyo.
                
Japan&#039;s Maritime Self-Defense Force holds a fleet review about every three years. This year&#039;s event would mark the 70th anniversary of the MSDF&#039;s founding.
                
The Japanese government did not invite the South&#039;s Navy to the last review in 2019, when bilateral relations worsened.
