The death toll from last week's landslide in the Philippines' southern island of Mindanao has risen to 92. Dozens more are still missing. Local authorities say that search and retrieval operations are ongoing for 36 people. They remain unaccounted for after a huge wall of mud engulfed a mining community in Davao de Oro province on February 6th. US Marine aircraft based in Japan's Okinawa helped transport relief supplies to the disaster hit area. Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. thanked Washington for deploying its air assets and other forms of emergency support for the tens of thousands of flood-displaced families. The southern Philippines has been drenched by torrential rains since the end of January, triggering floods and landslides.
