Russian security authorities say they have detained an agent of Ukrainian special services on suspicion of involvement in the car explosion in Moscow suburb that killed a senior Russian military officer.
        
                    
                  
Russia&#039;s Federal Security Service, or FSB, said on Saturday that it detained the suspect, a man in his 40s, in connection with the incident on Friday. Lieutenant General Yaroslav Moskalik, deputy chief of the Main Operational Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces was killed in the incident.
        
                    
                  
The FSB said the suspect obtained components for an explosive device from a cache set up by Ukrainian special services in the Moscow region, and planted it in a motor vehicle.
        
                    
                  
The FSB also said the explosive device was detonated remotely from Ukraine when the lieutenant general left his home.
        
                    
                  
Russia&#039;s state-run television aired a video released by the FSB. It showed a man alleged to be the suspect saying that he bought a car in February this year following instructions, and took a video camera and a bomb from a hiding place and installed them in the back of the car.
        
                    
                  
A series of explosions and other incidents have occurred in Russia since it launched its invasion of Ukraine.
        
                    
                  
Last December, two Russian military officials were killed in a blast in Moscow.
