Ukraine's Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has visited India for the first time since Russia's invasion. He hopes to make progress decoupling India from Russia at a time when Moscow is stepping up its offensive in Ukraine. Kuleba began his two-day visit on Thursday, when he paid tribute at a memorial to Mahatma Gandhi. On Friday, Kuleba met with his Indian counterpart, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar. Ahead of the meeting, Kuleba said on social media they will discuss a plan to end the conflict by building on a dialogue their countries' leaders have held. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has proposed a "Peace Formula" calling for the withdrawal of Russian forces. And Kyiv hopes to hold a peace conference of world leaders, excluding Russia, in the coming months. Ukraine is also seeking support from India and other emerging and developing countries collectively known as the Global South. But India has taken a neutral stance on the conflict. It has been increasing imports of Russian oil, and Russia has long been its main arms supplier. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been calling for dialogue between Moscow and Kyiv in a bid to play a mediator role in the conflict.
