Vietnam's national assembly chairman has become the latest in a series of top Communist Party officials to resign. The party announced Vuong Dinh Hue is stepping down over his "violations and shortcomings," without elaborating. Vuong Dinh Hue held the party's fourth-highest position. His resignation was accepted on Friday at a meeting of the Central Committee. He will also step down as a member of the politburo. An ongoing anti-corruption campaign has seen a spate of senior government and party officials charged and punished. The party's second-highest-ranking official, the president of Vietnam, resigned last month. His predecessor did the same in January last year. The political turbulence is raising concerns about Vietnam's reputation as a stable country for investors from overseas. About 2,000 companies from Japan are currently doing business in Vietnam.
