A senior US official says National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan will visit Israel on Thursday and Friday to meet Israeli leaders for talks over the latest developments in the Gaza Strip and Israel. White House National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby made the announcement at a news conference on Wednesday. Kirby said Sullivan will discuss the further opening of the Kerem Shalom crossing on the border between Gaza and Israel to include the delivery of humanitarian aid. Security screening of aid supplies to be transported into the enclave is currently underway at the crossing. Kirby said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made positive remarks and expressed hope that deliveries will be realized. Sullivan is also expected to discuss future plans and more specific efforts of Israel's military operations to reduce harm to civilians amid growing civilian casualties in the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict.
