Japan's Prime Minister Kishida Fumio and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken have agreed that their countries will work together to help improve the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip. Kishida and Blinken held talks at the prime minister's office on Tuesday. The top US diplomat is in Tokyo to attend the Group of Seven foreign ministers' meeting. Kishida condemned the recent terror attack by Hamas and others. He said the unity of the G7 members is needed more than ever with the Israeli-Palestinian situation. The two agreed that Japan and the US will cooperate to improve the humanitarian situation in Gaza and toward realizing humanitarian pauses that would contribute to such ends. Kishida and Blinken also discussed Russia's invasion of Ukraine, issues concerning China and responses against North Korea's nuclear and missile development. They reaffirmed that Japan and the US will deepen their cooperation in addressing challenges for the international community.
