Japan's Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru has said his country will continue providing assistance for Ukraine's recovery and reconstruction. Ishiba made the pledge in a written message sent to the online leaders' summit on Ukraine hosted by the UK government. In his message, Ishiba said that Japan "can never tolerate unilateral attempts to change the status quo by force like Russia's aggression against Ukraine anywhere in the world." The prime minister noted that the peace to be achieved in Ukraine can impact not only Europe but also global security, "including the Indo-Pacific region." He said, "we must work together to ensure that the situation does not lead to the drawing of the wrong precedent" and called for continuous involvement from the US. Ishiba promised that Japan will work on strengthening Ukraine's economic and social resilience by providing "public-private partnership assistance from a medium to long-term perspective."
