Russia's Defence Ministry says its troops have captured the town of Soledar in Ukraine's eastern region of Donetsk. The town is located near the Ukrainian stronghold of Bakhmut. The ministry announced on Friday that its forces took control of the salt-mining town on Thursday evening. The ministry stressed that the capture of Soledar would make it possible to cut Ukrainian supply routes to Bakhmut and trap Ukrainian forces there.
