1. Japan's Princess Aiko will make her first official overseas visit to Laos from November 17-22, marking the 70th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries.
2. During her trip, Princess Aiko will pay a courtesy call on President Thongloun Sisoulith, attend a banquet, visit a school offering Japanese language lessons, and tour a museum about unexploded bombs from the Vietnam War.
3. She will also travel to the ancient capital of Luang Prabang, a UNESCO World Heritage site, where she will visit temples and a children's hospital established by a Japanese non-governmental organization before returning to Japan on November 22. This is a return visit as Emperor Naruhito and Crown Prince Akishino have previously visited Laos in 1999 and 2012, respectively.
