Israel and many other countries have welcomed a 20-point peace plan proposed by US President Donald Trump aimed at ending the conflict in the Gaza Strip.
Attention is now focused on the reaction from Hamas.
Eight Arab and Muslim countries, including Egypt and Qatar, released a joint statement welcoming the initiative announced by Trump in the White House on Monday.
The statement said the countries welcome Trump's "leadership and his sincere efforts to end the war in Gaza." It also said they "assert their confidence in his ability to find a path to peace."
The Palestinian Authority also said in a statement issued through local press that it welcomes the plan.
The statement said the plan would "open the path toward a just peace based on the two-state solution."
European countries including Britain and France also expressed support for the initiative.
Meanwhile, a media outlet run by Hamas quoted a senior Hamas official as saying that the plan's provisions are "close to the Israeli vision," and described them as "vague and uncertain."
