Emergency officials say the death toll from record rainfall in Japan's Ishikawa Prefecture has risen to eight. Torrential rain hit the Noto region in the prefecture over the weekend. The fatalities increased on Tuesday when one person found at a landslide site in Suzu City was confirmed dead. Prefectural officials say two people are missing, and five people are unaccounted for and cannot be reached. Meanwhile, 46 communities remain isolated in Wajima and Suzu cities and Noto Town due to flooding and landslides. Authorities have not been able to fully grasp the situation, but at least 367 people are stranded. The isolated communities in Wajima include a temporary housing complex for survivors of the New Year's Day earthquake that devastated the Noto region. Some residents of the complex are requesting a group evacuation outside the city. The prefectural government has started making arrangements for their relocation. As of Tuesday afternoon, more than 5,200 households and businesses in the three municipalities were without running water due to power outages and damaged water pipes.
