A series of tornadoes tore through southern and Midwestern parts of the United States. Local media reports say at least 22 people are dead. The storms occurred on Friday across wide areas, including Tennessee in the south and Illinois in the Midwest. In Illinois, one person was killed after a roof collapsed at a crowded concert venue. More than 20 people were injured and treated at hospital. Footage taken on Saturday in the Midwestern state of Indiana shows a number of flattened buildings littered with debris. Search and rescue operations are ongoing. Local authorities say the death toll may rise. The severe weather hit about a week after tornadoes killed more than 20 people in the southern state of Mississippi.
